I’m a self-taught artist. I’ve been painting and drawing ever since I knew how to hold a pencil and a crayon. As a child growing up in Brooklyn, I was very shy, quiet and always reading, writing or drawing. My parents never had any problems deciding what to give me as gifts for the Holidays or Birthdays. These gifts would always consist of paper, pencils, paints and crayons. I enjoy painting with acrylics and I also enjoy pastels. I love having a variety of
mediums at hand because I never know what I'll be creating next.
I'm always learning. Art gives me the freedom to do that. I'm currently working on a B.A. in Fine Arts with a minor in English Lit. My goal is to eventually hold a Master’s in the field of Art Therapy. I believe that Art in all forms can be used as an excellent tool for healing.

Artist Statement:
I paint to give voice to my feelings. I paint because by putting color on a blank surface I can create an interpretation of my world. My Art is a process of discoveries. Experimentation with colors and emotions. Acrylics, Pastels Watercolors and Pencils are all mediums used to fabricate a reality that may heal and bring peace, understanding and joy to those who view my work.
Simple and honest. Simple as a mother's kiss.
The warmth of the sun. A family gathering.
Dancing. Loving. Crying. Emotions that are constant, in a world that changes faster than we
can wipe our tears.
I'm blessed to have been given this gift of
freedom. Painting and drawing frees me to be who I am.

Hi Ivy,
Love your story & your art. It's unique & not your usual "Latino" art. I feel like I've been writing ever since I could spell :).
Un fuerte abrazo from una Boricua artista to another,
