About Me:: Born in Costa Rica in 1977, I emigrated to the United States with my family in 1984. At 30, I reside in Los Angeles, where I am an English, Spanish, and Journalism teacher in a local public high school. Currently, I am in the process of earning my doctorate in Bilingual Education.

"EL PORTON ROJO" OPENS THE GATE . . .

(2007: whittier, ca. top image: teodorico quiros' oil painting "el porton rojo". bottom image: my version of "the red gate", but in watercolors.)

i don't know how flattered teodorico quiros would be to see his fellow countrywoman's version of his painting, but here it is. i did it as a project for one of my education classes at loyola, almost as a gag.

i've never painted before or taken any classes, but i really enjoyed painting with watercolors.

i think i might keep trying to paint . . .
