About Me:
Visual Artist raised in East Los Angeles that works in Creative Marketing. Involved in a work related accident in 2000 which kept me grounded at home. I became highly involved in The Art of Photography. In Therapy I became attached to my camera, I shot everything from Scenery to Friends, Animals, Portraits etc. I was also offered the opportunity to attend school and in 2002 received my Certification as a Graphic Artist.

In late 2002 I was hired to work for the President of TELACU a Latino Non Profit Organization, where I worked as a Community Liason. Attending and Organizing several events I became familiar with the artwork of Rufino Tamayo. Whom I greatly admire, among the likes of Salvador Dali, Frida, and Lark Calderon (You can find here in here).

I am not afraid to take risk, I will shoot anyhwere I can! If I have to climb a water tower, crawl under a fence or stand on a roof. My heart is in every Photo I take. I am happy to be alive and hope that I can take you away to a place that you can find peace in my photos.

I am married with two boys, Live in West Covina, California and continue to be involved in The Arts as well as plan to perform one day with the Whittier Center Theater.

My boots have magical Powers ( Just kidding)

My desire for Photography came from the need of Self expression and the want to bring across Normal everyday things in a form of Visual Poetry. Photographs that have the potential to transcend verbal and written language.

thank you for your kind  and welcoming note.

i am looking forward to being part of this latina art community.

is there a lot of activity  and communication about things that are going on? art openings? calls to artists? etc?

i hope so. it would be great to have a place where we can come together and talk about what's going on in our 'art' worlds.

anyway, took a quick look at your work on this site, and it is terrific.   felizidades!  i will come back again soon.

I've missed everyone here at ABLA! I haven't been on here in ages. Well, I've picked up my paint brush again and hope to post a few photos soon. I love making little Dia de Los Muertos creations. Autumn is nearby. My favorite time of year. Good to be in touch with you again Julieanna!

Yet, don't want to be completely out of touch as I check for new happenings and events. I have to add new images of my art jewelry when I get a chance. I am currently taking a fabrication class that I am really excited about!! keep in touch! Raquel

Hey lady... wow, haven't been on here in a long while. So many new members and interesting artwork. I really have to get creating... I have been busy digging in my garden (weather has been so beautiful here) and working to finish the school year in my art classroom, no time to work in our studio space. How about you?

Hi Julieanna,
I have been so busy too, not much time to visit the network here. Our weather has been shaping up nicely here in New England... I recently visited an art show in New Hampshire and they had daffodils up and magnolia trees just starting to bloom. So pretty, the only problem is that spring comes so fast!!! I try to get outside everyday to appreciate the little buds and tiny plants trying to break through the ground. Hope you are having nice weather and taking lots of pictures! :)

Hello Julieanna! Alls well at my end. Very busy teaching Art for extended day students (grades K-5). I'm hoping to begin Art workshops for my students this coming summer. Trying to figure out supply cost, etc. How are you? BTW, I love your music choices. I love Lila Downs - she's on my player in my studio as well. Have a wonderful week!

Hey! How have you been? I love your playlist. I saw Lila Downs sing in Albuquerque a few years ago and she was amazing. The weather here is miserable, snowing and raining for the past two days, and we have two more ahead of us. Take care of that sore throat, I hope you feel better!

I'am a mother who has been through so much.
Though my daughter and I have struggled I managed to get a two year dgree and currently working on a preschool permit. As far as extra curriculur activities i have sacrificed since I was twenty six years old. Lonliness is real. Abandoment is real. Keep looking inside. When someone does not have a voice they fall. No one listens.

Hi Julieanna. Been working in my studio on some new mixed media work on canvas. I love to do image transfers, painting over them, creating new backgrounds, texture. Its the most challenging work for me and the most rewarding. I've almost completed 3 new pieces of artwork. I'm working now on a mixed media work of a friend of mine who was unfortunately murdered 13 years ago. I had put her photo away for quite some time. I decided recently it was time to remember her through my artwork. Its been surprisingly difficult to view her image but I still feel that this is the right time to do this work. What is life and the work we do about but facing those challenges?
Other than this work, my sales on Etsy have been WAY SLOW and this economy has been a great, big CHALLENGE!! I'm a full time artist (my husband has the straight job) and it is so difficult to do this!!
How are things in your part of California?
