just sending out a friendly reminder regarding the deadline for the 'many faces of frida' exhibition. please send in your application before the may 1st deadline to be considered for this show.
the show will be running from july 13-august 28 with an opening and a closing reception on the third thursdays of july and august. notification of acceptance will be sent on or around may 15th.
we have most of the entertainment for the opening reception lined up. tara linda will be sharing her beautiful voice with us that evening. you can check out her site here: http://www.taralinda.com/anews.html
the aztec dance group in xochitl in cuicatl will be opening the exhibition with a short ceremony.
there will be plenty of good food and people to meet. i am also encouraging the participating artists to enroll in the city of oakland's artisan marketplace so that you can sell your work at the farmer's markets on sundays while the exhibtion is running. please contact dianne love to get more info on becoming an oakland artisan-510-238-4948 or dlove@oaklandnet.com. the website is http://oaklandartisanmarketplace.org/index.htm and applications are available on the site. the number of artisans enrolled in the program at one time are limited so please contact her if you are interested in enrolling.
i just wanted to make sure that you all were clear about the application deadline and the actual submission of artwork deadline.
the application that i sent out is due may 1st. i am aware that you may be in the process of creating your piece for the show at this time, so please send photos or a statement about your concept with dimensions. the final piece of art is not going to be collected until july 1st. everything is in the prospectus that i sent, but just in case you didn't read it, i am letting you know now, YOUR PIECE HAS TO BE COMPLETED AND SENT TO ME BY JULY 1ST. just get the application in now so that we can get our data base started. thanks so much for creating great art!!!
please call or email if you have any more questions.
