This is project is months in the making and I can finally unveil!
ChicaWriter.com
I love writing and have been pushing the pencil longer than I've been making art. It has been a dream come true to author my craft books and I'm hoping to do more, but my wildest goal yet is the publication of my novel.
After years of hard work (and tears. and crumpled papers), my manuscript sold in a two-book deal to
Grand Central Publishing. My first title is called WAKING UP IN THE LAND OF GLITTER. It comes out March 1st, 2010. I'm currently writing my second book.
As soon as the sale went through in July 2007, I knew I wanted to launch blog dedicated to writing. Not only to share my work, but to inspire others to get on the wagon too. I have a very busy schedule, but I hate the feeling of having a great idea and never acting on it. Well, I acted on it!
I specialize in contemporary women's fiction: stories about educated, artful, edgy Latinas!
If you love to write and need inspiration, I hope you'll check it out. I will be double posting some of the content here, but not all of it. I'd suggest signing up for the RSS feed on
ChicaWriter.com if you want to aware of updates. NOTE: I won't be updating
ChicaWriter.com as much as my
Diary of a Crafty Chica blog, but I'll try to post something each week!
Peace, love, and glitter!
Kathy :-)
P.S. Here is the synopsis of my upcoming novel:
Struggling domestic-goddess-in-training Ofy is determined to turn heads at this year's International CraftOlympics. To do that, she'll need the help of her best friend, Star. Considering herself a serious artist, Star is hesitant, but finally agrees to help as a way to end her own creative slump. Truthfully she thinks Ofy is a little loca about the whole craft thing - and about her idol: Local TV personality, Crafty Chloe. Star doesn't trust the bottle-blonde, even after she becomes part of their crafting team. As the competition heats up, Star will learn Chloe's dirty little secret, why crafting means so much to Ofy, and that beauty, art, and creativity can take many more forms than a canvas hanging in a gallery.
