How do you put the narrative into action?

The transitions from here to there
Are the critical encounters which matter
As we put our narrative in action
To start living the life we were meant to

What purpose are you pursuing?

What I do is right
Even if the rest of the world
doesn’t agree with me
What I think is valuable
Even if the rest of the world
snickers
What I believe is honorable
Even if you
don’t agree with me…

Just a Speck...

Just a speck
In the universe
Wondering where I fit in
Questioning where I go from here
Hoping it all comes together
Knowing that the coming
is dependent on me

Fifty is Nifty...Reflections on 2009 and Plans for 2010!!!

As I reflect on 2009, I can't help but count all of my Blessings. I have truly been blessed with a good job during the recession, a wonderful, loving family, good health, and many other things too numerous to mention.

My life is not perfect, but I choose not to dwell on the negative in these reflections...suffice it to say, life has been good to me.

For 2010, I am sooo looking forward to NaNoWriMo. I missed it in 2009 because I was just not ready, but I am going to be… Continue

Using Poetry to Learn Two Languages

Poetry is a great resource for learning a second language because the cadence, rhyme, rhythm, and patterns of a language are often reflected in poetic offerings. Having children chant rhymes and songs in the target language provides opportunities for weaving sounds throughout the mouth, practicing words, playing with the rhymes, and becoming comfortable with the strangeness of the new language.

Here are a few suggestions to help students get started:

Why I Love These United States

Today is election day in the United States of America and I am a long time Obama supporter because I truly believe that he has the best interest of the country in his heart, mind, and soul. I see him as working to unite the country and living the dream that Martin Luther King Jr. had so many years ago…that so many… Continue

(Hey, at least back then there were jobs to be had...)

Are you like me, neighbor? Are there some days where you wake up, read the news, and can't stop laughing at the absurdity of it all? Do you laugh because if you didn't, you'd cry? A $700 billion bailout of failing mortgage companies and investment banks. Wow. When a government buys all the houses and gives them to the people,… Continue
