New sketches and painting in the works

I've been out a little out of touch with my blog and art life these past few weeks, mostly enjoying time with my husband while he is home on two weeks leave. We are half way through his deployment. It's been a great two weeks of family time. I am slowly getting back to painting and sketching. Here are few images of what I'm working on now for Chicago exhibit, "My Life as a Deer".…

This Wednesday: Latina Artists on Display at HSA!

EVERYONE is invited to opening night of our Guest Artist Exhibition at the Harlem School of the Arts: "Visions of Children." This month's artists are predominantly Latina artists who explore common themes of tradition, gender and culture as depicted by the children of their countries. We think it would be a great place to connect with others in our NYC arts community, see the HSA space (which is available for use) and network, as HSA is a dynamic and multicultural source of artistic… Continue

DIY Tutorial Dia de los Muertos mask

I love this time of year. Getting ready for Dia de los Muertos comes early for me. Here is a sample of some of the crafts I am working on.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS MASK

What you'll need:

Wood skeleton face masks... I found these at my local Michael's. They come with a skeleton face already painted on them. I painted over mine with gesso to create a more custom look. I used acrylic paints and glitters. Including Elmers' glitter glue. Liquitex Basics, Crafty Chica paints, Crafty…

Scammers and spammers on ABLA

Hola amigas

I received a couple emails about members being spammed by other members. If this happens to you please let me know ASAP. Spamming and scammers won't be tolerated on this site. It means automatic ban from the site. It's hard to know the intentions of people sometimes when they join, (they can easily make up fake names/photos/profiles... these scammers are becoming more and more sophisticated, and prey on people by using sob stories to get you to send them money,…

The bond was cemented by the Saint-Domingue revolution,…
