- Although I'm living the military lifestyle with my husband and kids way over here on the east coast, my heart remains in SoCal. Most of my art is Latin-inspired. My love for Mexican folk art stems from my childhood -- Latina friendships and mixed cultural surrounidngs. My father is Mexican, my mother is white. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to mingle with my father's side of the family. He died my Sophmore year. But, I know my Artistic strengths, passion, and pride comes from him.
My husband, who is a Puerto Rican, is an inspiration as well . I feel like I have the best of both worlds -- Exposure to Mexican & Puerto Rican culture. Amazing how similar, yet diverse the two cultures are. I'm fascinated by the mixture of vibrant colors, architecture, religious Saints, and festivities. I love Dia De Los Muertos, Vejigantes, Frida & Diego. The list goes on.
