Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a Puerto Rican poet and artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (born and raised). I've been writing poetry since the age of eleven.

In June of 2007, I accomplished one of my dreams by successfully publishing my first collection of poetry entitled, I Know All The Right Things To Say. The collection consists of poems about Love, Life, Justice, Growing pains and Discovery.

I also love creating art, which I've been doing since early childhood and continue to do through various mediums such as Paint, Graphic Art, Photography, and Fashion.

Currently, I'm working on several projects including my second collection of poetry which I hope to publish in 2009. I'm also in the early stages of working on my very first novel - a story about the distance of love.

I'm here to network with other Latina artist, and because I believe in the power of artists uniting to create a better world...

Much Love & Respect,

In March 2010, there will be a series of events in Mexico City, Mexico, Los Angeles, California, and other cities, meant to be a ritual of mourning for the femicides in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua: Art as a pathway of opposition and resistance to violence.

We invite you to be part of this initiative of art activism. Below is the link to the blog we have dedicated to this and where you will find the Call for Entries. This invitation is open to all individuals, groups, organizations, artists and activists. The events in March 2010 will include awareness raising creative workshops, intervention actions, plays and performances and the exhibition of the art work received through the call for entries and the resulting art from the workshops.

For those who do not live in Mexico City or Los Angeles metropolitan areas, we invite you to organize your own community activity during the same month of March, 2010. It could be an Art Exhibit, a book discussion, a movie screening, a poetry reading, etc. We ask you to include the original title of this event “A Prayer for Juarez,” and to send us your schedule, and later on, photos and documentation, to be included in the blog.

To include your event, or for any kind of issue related, please write to us:

In Mexico:

Creating protest art transcends culture and gender. We are united in a larger community of like-minds and humanitarian goals. We thank you in advance for your dedication and your prayers for the women of Ciudad Juarez. NI UNA MAS!

Un cuento de Nica…
Esta es la historia del gusanito Luisito que sueña con convertirse en mariposa. La obra está bellamente ilustrada con dibujos-caricaturas en un ambiente boscoso.

Here is what one fan is saying about, El Poder de Ser Bilingue, the EZ Bilingual Newsletter:

I love having the English and Spanish next to one another! It's such a great way to learn. I always try to read the Spanish first, then see how well I did by reading the English, then go back again and try to learn some new Spanish words.

Sign up now and receive a free bilingual ebook: Margarita by Ruben Dario and check out the featured book, Gusanito, a great bilingual story about un gusanito que suena…perfect for helping you and your children practice Spanish fluency.

I'm always curious Nilsa about other parts of the country. Is there a very large Puerto Rican or other Latino community there?
