Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a self-representing artist. I live in Los Angeles California. I've been selling my art since 2004. I have done hundreds of handmade rag dolls from dead brides to frida kahlos. My paintings are melancholic, surreal and gothic. I get inspired by everyday life... I work from a thought unfolding it to a work of art .

Lupe,

In March 2010, there will be a series of events in Mexico City, Mexico, Los Angeles, California, and other cities, meant to be a ritual of mourning for the femicides in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua: Art as a pathway of opposition and resistance to violence.

We invite you to be part of this initiative of art activism. Below is the link to the blog we have dedicated to this and where you will find the Call for Entries. This invitation is open to all individuals, groups, organizations, artists and activists. The events in March 2010 will include awareness raising creative workshops, intervention actions, plays and performances and the exhibition of the art work received through the call for entries and the resulting art from the workshops. http://unaoracionporjuarez.blogspot.com/

For those who do not live in Mexico City or Los Angeles metropolitan areas, we invite you to organize your own community activity during the same month of March, 2010. It could be an Art Exhibit, a book discussion, a movie screening, a poetry reading, etc. We ask you to include the original title of this event “A Prayer for Juarez,” and to send us your schedule, and later on, photos and documentation, to be included in the blog.

To include your event, or for any kind of issue related, please write to us:
In the US: aprayerforjuarez@gmail.com
In Mexico: unaoracionporjuarez@gmail.com

Creating protest art transcends culture and gender. We are united in a larger community of like-minds and humanitarian goals. We thank you in advance for your dedication and your prayers for the women of Ciudad Juarez. NI UNA MAS!

PLEASE FORWARD THIS DATA TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW
WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING

Esta es la historia del gusanito Luisito que sueña con convertirse en mariposa. La obra está bellamente ilustrada con dibujos-caricaturas en un ambiente boscoso.

We Are San Francisco, a poem about the current state of our city

Wrote a poem to go along with my installation at Somarts called We Are San Francisco. What is San Francisco to you?Change, change. Shifting, shaping rapid, thoughtless, minimize, multiply, erase, recreate.Homogenized beauty, suburbs in the city. A rainbow of people, fade into shades of grey.Onslaught continues, more land, more money, more buildings, more restaurants, more evictions. This change to fear or face for those who stay, whose soul remains?Perhaps like the serpent we must shed our…See More
