Profile Information

About Me:
I was born in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico and lived in almost all of the states of Mexico during my childhood. That unique experience help me develop my deep love for art. Traveling across Mexico and seeing all the various types of art created by different artisans was amazing.
Mostly for me the traditional jewelry wore by the native Indians in South Mexico, Chiapas and Oaxaca, are my favorites.
My art work is a one-of-a-kind jewelry that transmits a feeling and a story, mostly influenced by my Mexican heritage. It is simple, but at the same time is full of delicate details that enhance the beauty and uniqueness of the piece.
Every piece has its own personality. My work is very artesanal and folk art influenced.
I like to create art that represents my culture and that gives people a story in every piece I make.
I’m very influenced by all sources of folk art that express a cultural heritage giving me the opportunity to add “soul” to my work.

I got my certification with Rio Grande as an Artisan in precious metal clay in 2006 and I am a member of the PMC Guild and the PMC guild chapter from San Antonio "MCASA."
My work has been featured in the “2008 PMC Guild Annual II , Exceptional work in Precious Metal Clay” book, in the book from Barbara Becker Simon, “Metal Clay Beads,” and in this year's "2009 PMC Guild Annual III."

Do you credit your art work ?

I have to admit that sometimes I do not credit my art work the right way.

Even though I have learn the right way to do it, sometimes I just forget and leave some crucial information out of my images. When I said CRUCIAL information , I mean MY NAME !!

Every time you post an image in any social media place, like Facebook, your blog, your Website or…

Lorena, I just posted this in the creativity circle group but probably should have posted here...

I just read the article in about you in metal clay today. This is written in such a positive and inspired way... yes, your hard work is being recognized! I have to tell you, the first time I saw your work and invited you to join this network I felt the same way about your work without even knowing all the history and personal connection behind it. Your pieces reflect your wonderful spirit. Keep it going Creative Lady... happy for you!

How many do you make of each piece? Have you ever worked with bloggers on hosting reviews/giveaways of your pieces? I have hosted review and giveaways for a wide variety of designers and would be interested in hosting a review/giveaway of "CALAVERA MARIPOSA" on my blog Ascending Butterfly

Lorena,

In March 2010, there will be a series of events in Mexico City, Mexico, Los Angeles, California, and other cities, meant to be a ritual of mourning for the femicides in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua: Art as a pathway of opposition and resistance to violence.

We invite you to be part of this initiative of art activism. Below is the link to the blog we have dedicated to this and where you will find the Call for Entries. This invitation is open to all individuals, groups, organizations, artists and activists. The events in March 2010 will include awareness raising creative workshops, intervention actions, plays and performances and the exhibition of the art work received through the call for entries and the resulting art from the workshops. http://unaoracionporjuarez.blogspot.com/

For those who do not live in Mexico City or Los Angeles metropolitan areas, we invite you to organize your own community activity during the same month of March, 2010. It could be an Art Exhibit, a book discussion, a movie screening, a poetry reading, etc. We ask you to include the original title of this event “A Prayer for Juarez,” and to send us your schedule, and later on, photos and documentation, to be included in the blog.

To include your event, or for any kind of issue related, please write to us:
In the US: aprayerforjuarez@gmail.com
In Mexico: unaoracionporjuarez@gmail.com

Creating protest art transcends culture and gender. We are united in a larger community of like-minds and humanitarian goals. We thank you in advance for your dedication and your prayers for the women of Ciudad Juarez. NI UNA MAS!

PLEASE FORWARD THIS DATA TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW
WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING
