What inspires me to create my work is my culture, my country, the richness of traditions and colors I had when I was a child in Mexico; all the wonderful memories of my childhood in Chiapas. I was blessed to live in a lot of different states in Me...

About Me:
With over 40 years of painting and teaching experience, my art has been shown worldwide. I am a painter addicted to making assemblage and art dolls... a student of mystical traditions, Sacred art and Shamanism, where I find inspiration for my Spirit Dolls. I have 3 muses by my side, my nana Maria, la Virgen de Guadalupe and Frida Kahlo.

My favorite artist date is to the the Dollar store, Thrift Store and garage sales where I find amazing treasures (everything I can do to recycle) rusted metal, old keys, kitchen gadgets, fabrics and vintage beads...they become part of my stash and that is why my studio is such a "cuchitril".

My totems or power animals are the dragonfly, crow and wolf.

I adore skulls, they are symbolic of transformation, Dia de los Muertos is a main theme for my dolls.

I like what Isabel Allende said in one of her books:

" There is no death, daughter. People die only when we forget them,' my mother explained shortly before she left me. 'If you can remember me, I will be with you always."

A UNIQUE REQUEST --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My passion for art took a turn in a very unexpected direction when my youngest child was born 16 years ago. In those days, I was not able to paint, and at 43 I felt a bit crazy dealing with so many changes, the only thing I could do was to mold smallish figurines with polymer clay which was my salvation. One day, a girlfriend came to visit, she said, have you seen the art exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Modern art by Judy Chicago, because those little goddesses are exactly like the Primordiall Goddess at the begining of her famous show, The Dinner Party! I had never seen the exhibit, and yes...the little goddesses looked like hers...I felt moved to tears, because I had been waking up every morning to quietly sculpt these, from a place so deeply rooted in me, I had to know it was a special call to grow and to share this healing with others. I also discovered, that by allowing my sweet muse to work through me, spirit would move and the dolls almost started to make themselves, I say to those who ask...that I am just lending my hands for this process, which is very healing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let the light in. I was reminded this morning about the beauty of imperfection, and the great opportunity this offers for more compassion for myself and others. Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in. --Leonard Cohen Don't turn away. Keep looking at the bandaged place. That's where the light enters you. RUMI I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy as long as I can paint. -- Frida Kahlo

"Las palabras son gratis, decía y se las apropiaba, todas eran suyas. ella sembró en mi cabeza la idea de que la realidad no es sólo como se percibe en la superficie, también tiene una dimensión mágica y, si a uno se le antoja, es legítimo esagerarla y ponerle color para que el tránsito por esta vida no resulte tan aburrido. --Eva Luna " — Isabel Allende

Have you noticed 11:11 ?

I think from here on you will notice even more :)

Someone wrote that 11:11 - The bridge or transitional zone between the old energy world of duality and the New Energy world of Oneness.
A kind of wake-up reminder, a call of the highest order, as confirmation that one's spiritual awareness/ awakening journey is right on track.

Of course it could be any other symbol, number or sign, it is just a way to remember, to notice something we forgot, or something we did not notice before.
I wish for you… Continue

Thanks for adding me; your work is beautiful. I like the symbolism of dragonflies too. I've used it in my writing. You've inspired me to finish my homepage.
