- I am from Southwest Detroit, Michigan where many families from Mexico migrated over the years seeking jobs in the auto industry or as immigrant workers that came to pick the many fruits and vegetables available or even work for the railroads. Not only did many families come from Mexico, but hundreds came from South America, Puerto Rico, Spain and other Spanish speaking countries to Detroit. I have always felt that the Hispanic community was so spiritual. Many families worked with their hands to make a living, using that spirituality to create works arts. As a child I saw, in my own family, many artistic endeavors my father, grandmother, Belen, as well as many of my uncles, brothers and sister, bring their ideas to fruition. Just watching my grandmother's hands create scenes, or scenarios out of ordinary items was like watching someone creating magic!
So I grew up always creating and using my imagination to invent things or produce works of art, doing what came naturally to me.
I have worked on several murals with a group of artists in Detroit when I was living there. I will post photos and history of those as soon as I can.
I currently am working in glass fusion creating jewelry and experimenting making plates, coasters and loving every minute of it. I have also worked (loved it!) pottery, painting, drawing as well as others types of art. I lived in San Antonio, TX for 3 years, which I absolutely loved. Now living in Georgia working as a Graphic Artist for the Federal Government.
