Art By Latina Artists

Supporting Women and the Arts

This is the second tree. I think I like this one better than the first because the leaves don't interfere with the flowers as much.

I begin these trees by designing the shape and drawing onto the wood (my husband cut them out for me so I won't take all the credit!) I then stained the wood with whatever I can find leftover in his workshop.

I was inspired by some tin flores and birds I picked up at an import shop in LA... so I made my own. All are hand cut with snips and punched with a variety of shaped punch tools. I use mirrors in the center of the flores so there is a nice reflective movement when the light changes in the room. This one is about 2' x 3' and hangs above my fireplace.

I welcome any feedback on what you think might make them more interesting. (I am getting ready to work on the next one)
