Art By Latina Artists

Supporting Women and the Arts

For me, this is an easy question, because inspiration comes to me from many places. I feel it in nature, music, art and quiet places...I see visions of paintings already finished or in process...I build castles in the air, or caves for that matter, because in me there is a secret garden that leads to a cave when I enter, I know this is time for discovery, and so it is.

Please if you are here for a visit, share with me your muse, or that which inspires you to create.

I'm a wordsmith and emotions, wants, needs, desire to see things change, all inspire me to create. I've started a blog that offers words of inspiration daily and encouraging postive change through focused breathing and affirmations with enhanced visualization. I can't help make the world a better place without making MY world a better place, and this is where I start daily. I'd love for you to take a look and tell me what you think, Ascending Butterfly - http://ascendingbutterfly.blogspot.com

What inspires me to create my work is my culture, my country, the richness of traditions and colors I had when I was a child in Mexico; all the wonderful memories of my childhood in Chiapas.
I was blessed to live in a lot of different states in Mexico due to my father's work and this gave me the wonderful experience to see and learn a lot of different traditions. I always admired the art from my country but it was until I came to live to the USA that I really , really appreciated my culture and this gave me the inspiration to start making traditional fabricated silver work and later metal clay work.
At the beginning I felt out of place because all my work was very rich of my culture and traditions but there is no other way I want to make my jewelry. This is me and what inspires me to create and I will never change it.
