Saturday August 8, 2009, 16 years later, Femicides in Ciudad Juarez.
Everyone is invited to participate in a day of art activism related to the femicides in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. All ages and skill-levels are welcome to take part in the re-purposing of a protest tapestry made by Rigo Maldonado. This tapestry was carried in 2004 by activist (from all over the world) who marched in a protest between the El Paso, Texas & Ciudad Juarez border. The banner comprised of 430 squares, represented the Juarez femicide count in 2004.
This day of community action presented by Self Help Graphics & Art will end in an evening performance dialogue that will feature social concern for the victims of Ciudad Juarez, whose deaths have found no resolution these past 16 years.
